Edition 2025:
The Granca Live Fest reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, strengthening its partnership with Eslôgica to reduce its environmental impact and leave a positive and sustainable legacy for future generations.
In this third edition of 2024, we will continue to implement actions and measures aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations. These initiatives have been organized into different categories according to their environmental impact, implementation phase and stakeholders, highlighting the following key areas:
ENERGY CONSUMPTION (SUSTAINABLE ENERGY INNOVATIONS)
In this edition, as a novelty, we introduce hydrogen as an energy source to power part of the festival. We have established a collaboration agreement with Carburos Metálicos, a leader in the production and supply of industrial gases, which will provide the necessary hydrogen and essential equipment for the implementation of three blocks of hydrogen cells, which will power efficiently and cleanly an area of the festival. This marks a milestone in the adoption of sustainable technologies at large-scale events.
We are also continuing to implement measures from previous editions:
• We continue to implement the use of state-of-the-art generator sets (STAGE V) to power the main stage.
• Use of Daylight for Outdoor Activities: Whenever possible, we take advantage of daylight for outdoor activities, thus minimizing the need for artificial lighting and reducing energy consumption.
• Renewable Energy Guarantee: We ensure that all energy used during the event comes from renewable sources supplied by the Electricity Grid, reaffirming our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our concrete actions to reduce waste and promote responsible consumption:
• Reusable Cups: Use of reusable cups to reduce plastic packaging waste and encourage reuse.
• Hydration Points: We will have free hydration points to reduce the waste of plastic containers.
• Biodegradable Tableware in Bars and Restaurants: All bar and restaurant establishments use exclusively biodegradable tableware, thus reducing the environmental impact of waste generated during the event.
• Ecological Merchandising: Our merchandising as well as the clothing of all our staff are made with ecological materials, promoting sustainability in all aspects of the festival.
• Direct Product Management and Local Purchasing: we coordinate the management of products offered in bars and restaurants with suppliers to ensure proper waste management and promote local purchasing, thus supporting the community's economy.
• Improved Recycling Infrastructure: this 2024 edition will build on last year's data to install strategically placed garbage cans and outside collection trays to facilitate waste separation during the event. Our strategy focuses on expanding the number of garbage cans where needed, improving their distribution and signage, and closely monitoring them. This allows us to reduce overall waste production and maximize the volume of recyclable materials.
• Specific Waste Management Strategies: We implement specific strategies for waste management, focusing on the separation of plastics, packaging, organic waste, cigarette butts and paper, thus ensuring adequate treatment of each type of waste.
• Environmental Awareness: During the event, we carry out environmental awareness campaigns with the help of specialized monitors, thus involving the attendees in the cause of sustainability.
SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
• Hydrogen vehicles for logistics:
The Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC), a public entity dedicated to research, development and innovation in technological areas such as renewable energies and sustainability, will collaborate with us in the integration of two vehicles powered by green hydrogen in the logistics of the festival. This initiative reduces carbon emissions and promotes sustainable transport technologies.
• Use of HVO fuel:
This year, we have introduced the use of HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) fuel for the festival's logistics vehicles and machinery. This renewable diesel, derived from used cooking oil and treated with hydrogen, significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels.
• Use of CO2 recovered:
We will implement CO canisters2 for bars and special effects. This CO2 is produced in an industrial plant in Telde through an innovative gas recovery and treatment project of Vidrieras Canarias. This project takes advantage of a resource that would otherwise be lost and contributes to the reduction of global CO2 emissions, promoting the circular economy.
• Agreement with Guaguas Municipales and GLOBAL:
For the festival, we have established an agreement with Guaguas Municipales and GLOBAL to provide a special bus service, increasing routes and encouraging the use of public transport.
• Shared and Electric Mobility:
We collaborate with MOU, a CARPOOLING app in the Canary Islands, to offer car sharing services. For trips less than 50 km from the stadium, motorcycles and electric scooters will be used, highlighting our commitment to sustainable mobility.
COMMUNICATION AND AWARENESS
We are dedicated to promoting a strong environmental awareness among our attendees by implementing a variety of innovative initiatives:
• Special Day "Granca Live Fest 360": we continue with our day dedicated exclusively to inform and raise awareness among attendees about the vital importance of preserving our planet.
• Workshops and Campaigns: We organize interactive workshops and powerful social media campaigns to raise awareness of the crucial importance of caring for our environment.
• Continuous Communication: We carry out pre-event campaigns in social networks and interest groups, and during the festival, we provide direct messages about sustainability. In addition, we have environmental monitors who organize games and activities to raise environmental awareness.
• Paper Use Reduction: We implement innovative communication technologies to reduce paper use. We use recycled and chlorine-free paper with environmentally friendly ink when necessary. In addition, we manage tickets through digital codes, eliminating the need to print physical tickets.
• Sustainable Visual Communication: We installed screens throughout the venue to provide communication support, thus reducing the need for traditional paper posters.
• Environmental Information Stand: We have a stand dedicated exclusively to provide environmental information to attendees. In addition, we offer the unique opportunity for attendees to sponsor a tree in the Granca Live Forest, thus promoting active participation in the preservation of our natural environment.
EQUALITY AND ACCESSIBILITY
At our festival we recognize and activate to ensure equality and accessibility for all festival attendees. In this sense:
• We will have specially adapted entrances and spaces for people with reduced mobility, as well as trained assistance personnel to provide support.
• Specific areas will be set up for these people, and the presentations will have sign language interpretation and translation of the information into several languages.
• To promote inclusion, we have established agreements with companies to integrate people at risk of social exclusion.
• We will have QR codes and a Violet Point dedicated to the prevention of gender violence, with specialized volunteer staff to offer assistance and support in situations of risk.

GASTRO MARKET
At Granca Live Fest, the culinary experience is designed to be as vibrant and memorable as the musical one: the heart of our gastronomic offering is the Gastro Market, a culinary fair that brings together a diverse selection of food stalls, each offering a unique specialty. Attendees will be able to enjoy a range from traditional Canarian cuisine to the latest international trends, all in a festive and dynamic environment.
• Zero Kilometer Products: One of the pillars of our gastronomic offer is the use of zero kilometer products. We work closely with local farmers, ranchers, and producers to ensure that fresh, high-quality ingredients are sourced directly from our region. This not only guarantees authentic, fresh flavors, but also supports the local economy and reduces our carbon footprint by minimizing food transportation.
• Vegetarian and Vegan Options: Recognizing the growing demand for healthier and more sustainable options, we offer vegetarian and vegan dishes. These options are carefully crafted to offer not only alternatives, but authentic culinary delights that can compete with any traditional dish.
• Commitment to Sustainability: In addition to delighting our guests with an unparalleled dining experience, we are committed to sustainable practices throughout our operations. This includes the use of biodegradable packaging and utensils, the implementation of a rigorous recycling system, and the promotion of waste management practices among all our suppliers.
• Diversity of Palates: Granca Live Fest is a reflection of diversity and inclusion, and this extends to our culinary offerings as well. We strive to represent a wide range of cultures and cooking styles, ensuring that everyone from the youngest to the oldest, and from meat lovers to plant-based food advocates, will find something to make them smile.
CALCULATION OF THE CARBON FOOTPRINT
The total GHG emissions associated with the 2023 edition of the festival, including indirect emissions from the supply chain were 180,564 KgCO2 equivalent to 3.142 KgCO2 per attendee, which represents a 31% reduction of GHG compared to the previous edition.
If these data are compared with those of the year 2022, in which the festival generated a carbon footprint of 137,000 kgCO2 with half the number of attendees, it can be stated that "the sustainability measures implemented by the festival are having their results".
During the festival, we will collect detailed data to accurately and transparently calculate the carbon footprint generated. This process will allow us to identify the main sources of emissions and evaluate the effectiveness of our sustainability initiatives. By sharing these results, we are committed to maintaining transparency with our attendees and continually improving our environmental practices.
